A aby to mali z\u00e1kazn\u00edci \u013eah\u0161ie s rozli\u0161ovan\u00edm r\u00f4znych druhov tohto materi\u00e1lu, ka\u017ed\u00fd z t\u00fdchto polystyr\u00e9nov m\u00e1 in\u00e9 farebn\u00e9 prevedenie. Tento zelen\u00fd polystyr\u00e9n niekedy ozna\u010dujeme ako styrodur alebo XPS polystyr\u00e9n. Je to extrudovan\u00fd polystyr\u00e9n, zn\u00e1my v\u0161eobecne ako tvrden\u00fd polystyr\u00e9n. A pr\u00e1ve v\u00fdraz tvrden\u00fd ho najviac charakterizuje. Na rozdiel od bieleho polystyr\u00e9nu neobsahuje mal\u00e9 guli\u010dky, ktor\u00e9 sa pri stla\u010den\u00ed mierne deformuj\u00fa. Jeho \u0161trukt\u00fara je in\u00e1, viac homog\u00e9nna. Tento polystyr\u00e9n sa vyu\u017e\u00edva hlavne tam, kde sa vyu\u017eije jeho tvrdos\u0165, \u010di\u017ee st\u00e1los\u0165 v tlaku. Pou\u017e\u00edva sa preto hlavne pri zatep\u013eovan\u00ed podl\u00e1h alebo ploch\u00fdch striech. Tak\u00e9to miesta s\u00fa viac za\u0165a\u017eovan\u00e9, tak\u017ee pou\u017eit\u00edm oby\u010dajn\u00e9ho polystyr\u00e9nu by do\u0161lo k jeho ne\u017eiad\u00facej deform\u00e1cii a n\u00e1slednej strate tepelnoizola\u010dn\u00fdch vlastnost\u00ed. V minulosti niektor\u00ed stavebn\u00edci pou\u017e\u00edvali be\u017en\u00fd polystyr\u00e9n aj na zatep\u013eovanie podl\u00e1h, \u010do viedlo k nepr\u00edjemn\u00fdm po\u0161kodeniam a postupn\u00e9mu praskaniu t\u00fdchto podl\u00e1h. Dnes u\u017e pou\u017eit\u00edm tvrden\u00e9ho polystyr\u00e9nu s\u00fa podlahy a ploch\u00e9 strechy stabiln\u00e9 a dlhodobo funk\u010dn\u00e9. \u010casto sa tento tvrden\u00fd polystyr\u00e9n pou\u017e\u00edva aj na zatep\u013eovanie pl\u00f4ch, ktor\u00e9 prich\u00e1dzaj\u00fa do styku s p\u00f4dou.
